The free app that makes all of this possible is available from Barclays. It is called Pingit and makes it so UK adults can transfer money regardless of which bank they use. Barclays said that they got 120,000 downloads of the new app in the first five days since its debut. The app is available for the iphone, Android and Blackberry.

The ability to send and receive money using a mobile device is not a new idea but the Barclays app takes it to another level.
