Europe's Prefered Online Payment Method
The most preferred way for consumers in Europe to make online
payments is still credit cards. While credit cards are still popular,
e-wallets and other payment methods are on the rise because they
are easier to use and oftentimes more reliable.
Credit cards accounted for the largest share of transaction in
Europe in the last quarter with digital wallets in second place.
Credit cards were the most popular choice among consumers although
it did vary slightly by country. Card payment growth was up in
the UK thanks to online payment methods. Customers in France were
choosing credit cards first while payment methods like PayPal
and Neteller were second in popularity. The two most popular payment
methods in Spain were credit card and Pay Pal. Credit cards dominated
the use in Sweden, Denmark and Norway. That was not the case in
Finland as online bank transfers were the most popular online
payment method.
There are a lot of online payment methods that continue to be
reliable in addition to credit cards and many of them are easier
to use and some are more cost effective. Some of those options
include Neteller, Skrill, EntroPay, ecoPayz, Click2Pay, Paysafe,
ClickandBuy, Ukash and the always reliable wire transfers from
companies like Western Union and MoneyGram.
